Courtney Vital is Chief Learning Officer for the Human Capital Institute. She leads HCI strategy and thought leadership around learning, coupling deep knowledge of how people learn with extensive experience in designing education products that achieve business outcomes. Courtney is passionate about learning transfer and application, and believes in the efficacy of multi-modality experiences that blend research, real-world application, and personal context.
Courtney’s work provides courses, certification, and on demand learning to HCI’s individual and corporate clients around the world who are striving to advance their organizations through game-changing talent management practices. Courtney’s team oversees all aspects of educational strategy, product development, instructional design, delivery platforms, faculty management, and operational execution.
Prior to joining HCI, she spent 10+ years at the Association for Talent Development (formerly ASTD). Courtney led and grew ATD Education into a global training operation that has developed more than 80,000 learners to date. Having spent her entire career in professional education and learning, Courtney is proud to hold the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance© (CPLP) credential. Courtney earned a B.A in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a Masters in Adult Education candidate from Pennsylvania State University.
